(Photo by Declan Dean; click photo for another view) Lucy is our latest prodigal daughter. I was not sure that I really wanted to sell her as a baby, and now I am very happy to have her back. Her dam has been producing really nice kids her entire life, and she is half sister on her sire's side to the 2011 ADGA National Champion doe. She will be a late first freshener early in 2012.

Just
like her dam, this pretty doeling is as sweet as the day is long.
She is linebred on MCH Stonewall's L'il Honeysuckle E, full sister
to our favorite ancestor, Raising Arizona, as well as on Arizona
himself, and her patented red coloring is consistent with that background.
Very interested in how this one turns out. Named after the Greek
goddess of flowers.

(Photo

of our best young does, sired by our most beautiful buck. Morrigan
was originally sold but the sale fell through, and I get the feeling
it was meant to be. She is wild and crazy, but still a beautiful
sight, with some very spiffy moonspots to boot. Named for a Celtic
goddess of fresh water who is often associated with ravens and crows.

(Right

doelings! I couldn't be happier. Aria, left, was a tiny little peanut
weighing in at just over 1 pound and struggled at first, but she
is a fighter and is now doing great . Althea is maturing very nicely
as well.

Galena
has been a bit of a sleeper in our herd, not being shown much due
to some trouble getting her ADGA registration, but she is just as
nice as you'd expect a Gem daughter out of one of Sunni's favorite
does to be, and I can't wait to see how she combined with the very
prepotent Halifax.

This
kid is very small, but exquisite for all of that. We have retained
her brother as well, and I think the results of this linebreeding
will be very interesting to see.

Very
flashy polled broken buckskin doe kid out of our first homebred
ARMCH, sired by the up and coming Tuan. Very level over the topline
right back through the rump--a big improvement in that area over
her dam, and wild as a march hare...oh well.

This
kid is out of a doe almost too nice to be sold, and an interesting
outcross. Typical long framed, level Halifax daughter who has matured
into a stunning yearling. Didn't make it to the National show because
I messed up her tattoo when registering her. She was finally shown
at the Topsfield Fair, and earned Best Junior doe in Show over a
pretty large entry (click photo to see another angle, courtesy of
Lorene Toth).

After I almost lost Deirdre this year to a horrible, possibly gangrene mastitis, I was very glad that I had retained this doe who was orginally supposed to be sold. She's just been hanging out here growing up (which means I don't have any pictures more recent than this one), and is bred to Ranger for kids in April 2012. As a yearling she takes after her granddam Aphrodite in body type, which means long and elegant, with the gorgeous Ariadne rump structure, but she is also petite like her grandsire Rio, which is good because Aphrodite is pushing the stick. Should be a lot of milk here as well.

Saga's
dam Cybele was one of the nicest does that I ever decided to go
ahead and sell. Because I was retaining all of my last Halifax kids,
originally I was going to sell this kid as well, but I realized
that I had no Rebel kids retained at all from 2010, so she stayed.
This is actually a very nice pedigree with tons of Caesar's Villa
and Stonewall back there. And yes, she is a bit over-loved. Hopefully
she will milk all that baby fat off once she freshens.

A beautiful
daughter out of reliable champion Skylark, sired by the late Halifax. Not
quite as long and elegant as her stunning 3/4 sister Vesta,
but very solid in general appearance with outstanding feet and legs,
much like her dam. Named quite fittingly by my favorite adopted
daughter, Libby.

One
of my favorite kids of 2010 both for her stunning looks and for
her loving personality. Actually quite an amazing pedigree.

Felicity
was sold but has returned home...I am actually very intrigued to
see how she turns out. She is Hunk through and through...not surprising
given that she's the result of a father daughter breeding. As an
experiment, she will be interesting to observe. Meanwhile she is
a lovely sweet bottle baby and a joy to have here.

The
last kid born in 2010 and clearly a keeper. Her dam is very petite
(on a bad day we say runty) but has one of the soundest sets of
udder attachments here. I am hoping for a bit more size from her
sire, the substantal and well named Hunk.
